You may have never heard of Sighisoara, Romania but you might be familiar with some of its more notorious residents: Vlad the Impaler and Dracula.
You'd think it would be something of an austere town, shrouded by Transylvanian forest; that the setting would mirror the dark man who was reputed to consume the blood of his victims. But in fact, modern day Sighisoara is quite the opposite.
What if I told you it's one of Europe's best-preserved medieval towns? A gorgeous one no less? That pastel buildings, peaked roofs and bulbous church spires infuse it with fairytale whimsy. That cobblestone streets and Burgher houses inspire a magical Eastern European ambiance.
Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself. Here are 10 swoon-worthy photos that will have your feet itching for travel.
