Complete with a variety of outdoor activities and rustic-luxe accommodation, Whistler is the perfect mesh of nature, community, and excitement that sets the stage for a perfect romantic getaway. Blazing fires, cozy lodges and snowflakes don't hurt either...

A scientific hack for improving your relationship and making you feel closer to your partner is achieved through engaging in novel activities with one another. The more adrenaline-pumping and heart racing the activity is, the closer and more connected you’d feel to one another.

That said, here are three date ideas in Whistler to bring you and your partner closer together.

Kick start your heart:

A snowmobile tour

Snowmobiling might be daunting if you’re a first-timer like myself, but there are less-intimidating, beginner routes to try out.

My first time was with The Adventure Group and I did a snowmobile tour up Cougar Mountain.

I love that you get to share a high-octane snowmobile with your partner, holding on tight while climbing the snowy vertical. Not only do you share the experience completely, but the scenic view on the drive up is beyond incredible.

Being completely present in your environment, while paying attention to the trail and controlling the snowmobile creates a whole new adrenaline-driven experience...one that you can share as a couple.

If you have snowmobiled before, The Adventure Group offers a variety of different tours that range in difficulty, from family tours to next-level coastal mountain sledding.

I filmed a vlog of the ride up if you want to see the experience on film.

Hot tip: For optimal comfort, dress warm (gloves, ski jacket, snow pants, warm socks and boots)

Leap for love:

Wintertime bungee jumping

Scared of heights? Me too. Perfect date idea, found!

Bungee jumping is the definition of an adrenaline rush.

Your racing heart will probably begin way before the actual jump happens, and the hardest part of a bungee jump - in my opinion - is walking up to the ledge.

However, I found that as a couple, you can balance that fine line between fear and excitement together, providing the emotional support and encouragement to face your fears, and just...jump.

Hugs afterward to calm your racing heart are warmly welcomed.

Make flirtatious eyes:

Silent R&R at the Scandinave Spa

The Scandinave Spa, Whistler’The Scandinave Spa, Whistler

There is something beautiful and engaging that happens between couples in silence. You learn very quickly to read each other’s body language and find a way to communicate with eye contact, smiles, and touch - which can be sensual. Hello sparks!

We particularly enjoyed the Scandinave Spa because of the serene outdoor concept. Guests are encouraged to experience the spa and fully maximize the health benefits through a three-stage cycle: hot-cold-relaxation.

First, heat the body in an incense-infused steam room or toasty sauna - which are heavenly, I didn’t want to leave. Next, rapidly cool the body in a cold bath and then relax in the solariums that overlook the lush greenery outside. Each hot-cold-relaxation cycle takes about 30 minutes and should be repeated 3-4 times.

The health benefits of the hot baths include opening your pores, stimulating blood flow, and the release of toxins. The ice bath closes those pores, brings the blood back to the organs and restores your body’s defences. Admittedly, I also found myself enjoying the idea of couple massages. (Book in advance.)

Hot tips to make the most of the Scandinave Spa:

  • Stay for at least 2 hours.
  • Bring a book or magazine.
  • Enjoy (and respect) the silence.
  • Be present and take in the sights, smells and sounds around you.
  • Feeling peckish mid-experience? Fuel your relaxation by helping yourself to free tea and apples, or snack at the paid cafe in the lobby. (Just grab a towel, no need to re-dress.)

Date Night Eats in Whistler

Why not cap off the day with a romantic dinner date in Whistler Village? There are plenty of options to choose from, but here are some top picks:

Bar Oso: Get cozy in this cramped Spanish-style tapas bar that’s worth squeezing in for. Play nice (or cheeky) as you share palette-teasing small plates.

Araxi: Romance is posh cocktails over a candle-lit glow, cloaked in moody ambient lighting. The perfect place to play footsies.

Basalt Wine & Salumeria: Sip sumptuous reds on this fresh-air patio located in the beating heart of Whistler Village. Snuggle into a fleece blanket next to the outdoor fireplace.

Trattoria di Umberto: Channel Italian romance over some Tuscan fare, made with love, to share with your love.

Bearfoot Bistro: Clink glasses and share more than a dining experience. Venture into the Ketel One Ice Room after indulging your taste buds to cool off while enjoying vodka in sub-zero temperatures
